Conceptualization and design of the first album of David Viñolas Trio.
Concepte
CAP AL CAPVESPRE is the first album from the personal project by the drummer David Viñolas. The name of the album refers to when this album was conceived: during the sunset, in a moment of transition when he would come back from work to the village, not being day anymore not night yet, a time dedicated just to himself.
The photograph highlights the transition feeling that sunset has. David Viñolas is blind and therefore all his other senses are more perceptive and his understanding of the world differs from that from other people. This fact brought us to choose not to use ink on the cover but to develop a sensorial experience with the ones that can see. We wanted them to get closer to the musicians own sensorial world so we chose to have the name of the album and the band printed using spot UV coating. When one’s finger touches the lacquered area it notices the name. The coating also looks different depending on the direction of the light and this connects to the changing light situation during sunset.
